Reliving Wrestlemania: Top Five Favorite Moments

Reliving Wrestlemania: Top Five Favorite Moments

With Wrestlemania fast approaching this Sunday, I have been reflecting back on some of my favorite wrestlemania memories, since I became a fan back in 1994. In the build up to Wrestlemania, I always go back and watch some of my favorite matches and just watch some older Wrestlemania shows, as I just enjoy reliving those memories. I decide that I would share, my top five favorite Wrestlemania moments.

5) Steve Austin vs The Rock: Wrestlemania 17

For whatever you say what happened afterwards in terms of the Stone Cold Steve Austin heel turn, the moment he actually turned heel was one of those, WTF Moments. As for years, it was Steve Austin vs Vince McMahon and to see those two team up for the first time to screw The Rock out of the WWE Championship it was a moment that left you speechless. I remember sitting there watching it going, What? Why? Why is this happening? It made everything that happened that week, including WWE buying WCW, it made you want to tune in to RAW the next night to find out what happened next.

4) Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon: Wrestlemania 10

I have probably watched this match up over two dozen times at least. For me, these were the two guys that got me in to watching wrestling. I remember getting the VHS of the show a few days or weeks after the show aired and it drew me in to watching wrestling. The story telling in the match, was completely different than any ladder match that has happened since then, which is why this match up stands out to me as one of the best ever.

3) The Rock vs Hulk Hogan: Wrestlemania 18

You want to about crowd reactions in pro wrestling, these two men got probably the biggest crowd reaction in the history of Wrestlemania. While the match up between these two wasn’t the greatest technical match up in wrestling history, the crowd made the match up. The fans booing The Rock and cheering Hulk Hogan and the two of them knowing exactly how to play the match up when the crowd should be responding the other way, you knew on that night you were witnessing history.

2) Triple H vs The Undertaker: Wrestlemania 28

Here is another one of those matches that I can watch over and over again and pick out different things that I didn’t see the first time I watched it. I probably have watched this match up at least a dozen or so times, because you had three of the all time greats involved. While the match up with Triple H and The Undertaker, the added element of Shawn Michaels as the referee just made this match up to me, the greatest Wrestlemania Match of all time. This match up was the ultimate story telling match and watching the three of them embrace after the match up was over, just made this match up that much more special to witness.

1) Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart: Wrestlemania 12

While I became a fan watching Shawn Michaels against Razor Ramon at Wrestlemania 10, this match up was the one match that kept me being a fan for a variety of reasons. This match up also holds a personal memory to me which always brings me back to it, as me and my friend were on opposite sides of the battle lines for this one, he was a Bret Hart fan, I was a Shawn Michaels fan, so the entire time we were watching the match, we were trashing talking each other, like any 12 year old would do at time. For that reason alone, just for the personal memories attached to this match up, it is my favorite Wrestlemania Moment of all time.
